The Schaefer family has owned and operated Schaefer Industries, Inc. for nearly 40 years. Founded by
Dr. Weldon Schaefer in 1979, Wes Schaefer followed his dream to build his own business, selling nearly everything to start the company with his wife, Bonnie. Today, Schaefer Industries is a leading supplier of refractory shapes to the Investment Casting industry. After Dr. Schaefer’s death in 2006, his son Nick took over as President of the business. His wife, Cathy, has served as Vice President of Finance keeping it a true “family” business. By his father’s side from the very beginning, Nick has decided that the time is right for a change and agreed to sell the company to the Vice President & General Manager, Richard Kilgore. Nick adds, “It was a pleasure and honor to have had the experience of working with my father who I miss every day. My Dad’s legacy will live on under Rich’s ownership which is why it was the right time for the Schaefer family to sell the business.” Effective January 1, 2018, Schaefer Industries will be known as Schaefer Industrial Ceramics. Led by Rich Kilgore, the ISO9001:2015 certified company will continue to provide the same products and exceptional service that its customers have come to expect. Rich’s entire career has been in the refractories field. He joined Schaefer Industries 15 years ago after previously running two ceramic businesses that also served the Investment Casting Industry. His extensive service with Schaefer Industries and his 24 years of Investment Casting industry experience assure a smooth transition as he assumes ownership of the business. “I’m excited about the opportunity to take the business in new directions while building on the successes of our past,” says Kilgore. Schaefer Industrial Ceramics offers a complete line of pouring cups in mullite and fused silica compositions, including innovative designs to improve the casting process through metal filtration, vortex control, and turbulence reduction. Specialized materials are available for the most demanding thermal shock applications and for directionally-solidified and single-crystal applications. In addition, Schaefer Industrial Ceramics offers a complete line of alumina crucibles for vacuum and air melt applications. Design assistance is always available to help solve our customers’ specific challenges. Schaefer Industrial Ceramics is located in Allentown, Pennsylvania and has been at its current location since 1985. Any questions can be directed to Rich at rkilgore@schaeferceramics.com. |
